My chosen track for my music video coursework

I have decided to create a music video to “you know you like it” a Tchami remix taken from Aluna George and DJ snake. I have chosen this piece of music as the song starts slower and builds up, which works well for the sort of dance video I am hoping to create. As it is a remix there is no music video already existing leaving me with compete freedom to create my own. I have chosen a Tchami remix as he is known for dance music in particular and I knew that his songs start slower and build up to a house music dance vibe which is the kind of track I was ideally looking for.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQdSldZXkE4

AlunaGeorge past music videos

Attracting flies - there is so much intertextuality within this music video, starting with Little red riding hood and the wolf within the first few frames, leading onto Rapunsel as the video continues, then Goldie locks and the three little bears, the sword in the stone, the princess and the pea, Snow White and the seven dwarfs, Cruela devil from 101 Dalmatians and sleeping beauty. The video starts with the lyrics hat repeat throughout “little grey fairy-tales and little white lies” referencing all the fairy-tale intertextuality to come within her video. There are a lot of high angle shots looking down on Aluna making her seem more vulnerable like the princesses from the fairy-tales she is rein acting.   Not above love - at the start of the video she arrives in a car playing one of her previous songs “mean what I mean” from the radio including her own intertextuality. As well as this the frame then changes to a swimming pool also previously used in her video “you know you like...

Changes from my first draft

After completing my first draft, I have decided that the incorporation of lip-syncing would really pushy my narrative forward and in particular using close up shots to ensure my music video shall include a wide variety of shot types to keep it interesting. For my lip-syncing I have used a strong female character from the homosexual relationship shown in the video so far as I feel as though she communicates well with the camera and shall give across the intended message for my music video being individuality, youth culture and escapism. This shall not only ensure my narrative maintains to capture the audience’s attention but shall allow me to demonstrate further different shot durations, camera angles and editing techniques so that my music video is in keeping with the fast pace movement conformative to the dance music video genre. The music video that I have created so far for my first draft shall be interspersed with the lip-syncing and act as flashbacks as the central female shall ...

Statement of Intent

I chose to use the Tchami dance remix of “You know you like it” by Aluna George and DJ Snake as I wish to create a high energy nostalgic dance music video which I believe Tchami as an artist represents being a future house artist. My Narrative shall follow three couples, two of whom are heterosexual and the third being homosexual as I shall explore youth culture and representation of sexuality through nostalgic freedoms of summer. I shall include lip-syncing from a strong female character in the homosexual relationship as the narrative follows her reminiscing on her summer romance as well as her friends. The camera shall continue to follow this central protagonist in autumn as I use a variance of shot durations to cut between seasons, with summer representing young vibrant love between the different couples and autumn representing a time for reminiscing on the freedoms of adolescence. I shall use intertextuality from the music video “What if I go” by Mura Masa who also explores t...
